MyFlex recognised at Diversity Works Awards

30 August, 2018

IAG New Zealand has been highly commended at this year’s Diversity Works New Zealand Awards for its flexible working initiative.

The insurer was highly commended in the Work Life Balance award category for flexible working programme MyFlex at last night’s ceremony at the Cordis Hotel, central Auckland.

Rolled out in 2017, MyFlex has become integral to IAG New Zealand’s strategy in both the future of work and diversity, inclusion and belonging areas.

IAG’s Executive General Manager People & Culture Merran Anderson says MyFlex recognises diversity in all its forms and ensures our organisation is well supported for the future.

“Our company’s purpose is to make the world a safer place. Ensuring our people have access to a range of flexible working options that suit their needs, as well as the needs of the business, is one of the ways we do this,” she says.

“MyFlex works because of mutual respect and trust. We’ve seen great improvement in the health and wellness of the people who have adopted a flexible working lifestyle, as well as productivity and commitment to IAG as a company,” Anderson says. “We’ve also seen unplanned leave and absenteeism drop for teams with flexi-work arrangements. It is a win-win for us and our people.

“We’re incredibly proud to have been recognised for our work in this field,” Merran says. “It’s a testament to our people and the support MyFlex gives them to take care of themselves and their whānau.

“MyFlex means our people have choice,” she says. “From the team at our AMI Matamata branch, who flex their hours so they can spend more time with their grandkids, to one of our contact centre staff in Christchurch who has a hearing impairment and finds working from home a quiet and more productive environment. We’re really committed to ensuring our people have access to flexible working options that work for them, their team and the wider business.”
