IAG New Zealand CEO Amanda Whiting has been named Insurance Leader of the Year Award at the New Zealand Insurance Awards hosted by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF).
Judges described Amanda as a “visionary CEO with a track record of fostering innovative and diverse workplaces that deliver exceptional culture and customer-centred outcomes.”
In particular, her work in the aftermath of the North Island floods and Cyclone Gabrielle was recognised, with judges saying “she tirelessly contributes to the industry, through several internal and external boards and committees…and spearheaded the recent disaster response, recovery, and next steps alongside central and local government.”
Amanda Whiting says, “I am pleased to accept this award on behalf of IAG. This year has certainly been one for the record books, and our people, based right across the motu, have worked tirelessly to support our customers.
“We received 51,000 claims for the North Island floods and Cyclone Gabrielle. While the claims team has fronted much of our response, everyone at IAG has come together to get our customers back on their feet as soon as possible. I’m very proud to say that we have now closed nearly 100% of claims.
“We have also worked closely with Toka Tū Ake EQC, the Insurance Council of New Zealand, the broader insurance industry and councils to help us deliver a best industry response to customers.”
